MY FIRST BLOG!

I am researching Affirmative Action issues. Starting this semester off in American Government class, the topics we engage in really get me interested in governmental issues and affirmative action is one of them. Affirmative action refers to policies that take factors including race, gender, color, religion and national origin into consideration in order to benefit an underrepresented group, usually as a means to counter the effects of a history of discrimination. The focus on such policies apply anywhere from employment opportunities to education opportunities. I strongly do not believe in affirmative action. Employment and educational opportunities should not be based on the content of minorities, but rather the content of character and the capability of the person.
